While interventional pain medicine is a relatively new medical specialty, physicians and other medical practitioners have been working to understand, treat and eliminate pain for thousands of years. Interventional pain medicine uses injections and minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat the pain associated with specific, acute and chronic conditions.
The SBL Center for Interventional Pain brings advanced pain-fighting techniques and expertise to the people of East Central Illinois. It is home to Anesthesiologist Ragai Mitry, MD, who has advanced training in the diagnosis and treatment of pain. He works to eliminate pain without the use of narcotics and other addictive drugs. Heather Heicher, APN, sees patients in the office as well and provides several options for pain management that require no sedation. In addition to her background as an RN providing care in the Pain Clinic, Heather has also been trained by Dr. Mitry in pain management without the use of narcotics.
The Center for Interventional Pain is staffed by registered nurses who have vast experience and a special interest in helping patients manage their pain.
